Lean Cast is a cloud-based AI streaming concept that turns two smartphones into a lightweight multi-camera live-streaming setup — without the traditional production complexity.
Most smartphones already carry capable, high-quality cameras. Lean Cast explores what happens when two of them are treated as the capture layer of a live production, while cloud infrastructure takes on the harder problems — coordination, processing, and delivery. Instead of racks of dedicated hardware, the setup starts with the devices people already carry.
Two smartphones can provide different viewpoints, creating a flexible production setup without dedicated cameras.
The cloud acts as the central layer for processing, coordination, and future expansion.
The architecture creates room for intelligent features such as automated camera switching, captions, framing, and highlights.
Starting as a hackathon prototype, Lean Cast is designed as a foundation that can grow into a broader streaming platform.
Lean Cast was developed for the AI Hackathon by Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan in collaboration with Alibaba Cloud.
